In The United States, Netflix Will Soon Introduce Account-Sharing Fees
In November of last year, Netflix introduced a new ad-supported plan called “Basic With Ads” for consumers solely in the United States, priced at $6.99 per month.
The U.K., Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and South Korea are now also able to purchase it.And while 720p resolution was the highest streaming quality available under this plan, the company has already announced that they are raising the video resolution to 1080p resolution.
In addition, the firm has opted to permit two concurrent streams on a single account that has subscribed to this ad-supported plan, as opposed to the previous decision that only permitted one stream.
In addition to all of these upgrades, Netflix plans to introduce account-sharing costs in the United States, which they have been discussing and testing for the past year as part of a password-sharing enforcement effort
The restriction on account sharing will still allow people to freely share their Netflix account with friends or relatives who reside in the same home.
However, those who reside in another household will not be able to use that Netflix account without paying an additional fee. This account-sharing crackdown will be put into effect in the nation after June 30.
