Suella Braverman resigns as Home Secretary in a face-to-face meeting with the Prime Minister – she is replaced by Grant Shapps.
Braverman says she resigned after sending an official document from her personal email, in violation of ministry rules.
In a sharp resignation letter, she says the government must rely on people to “take responsibility for their mistakes”.
Pretending that we have not made mistakes and hoping that things will magically be fixed is not serious politics,” she adds.
